Created for Necessity, Employed for Passion

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet"

Let's build a world. Explore what we believe by writing. In many ways my characters’ experiences with fate, destiny and free-will mirror my own. What is up to us and what isn’t? It’s one of the great questions of the human experience, I think. But no matter what is for us to control, we must own the identity. You’re a writer if you write. Period. Writing is a lovely way to spend one’s time. Enjoy it. And I hope you enjoy my writing here.

What's Your Seven?

To add to the fun of Forever YA August book club month! (Who is reading When You Were Mine? Come join in!) I thought I'd ask you all what your seven is. For those of you who don't know what a seven is, I'll let Rosaline explain: "Another one of Charlie's theories is that it's important to have 'a thing.' It makes you stand out. She calls it your seven, because it's her favorite prime number. Meaning it can't be divided just like the thing that makes you you can't be separated. For instance, Olivia's seven is that she always has some item of purple on, even if it's just her key chaim. Olivia wants her seven to be her hair, because she loves her hair, but Charlie says purple is way more interesting."

You guys, Charlie would totally not approve because my seven is definitely my hair. I talk about my hair constantly. My friends all probably hate my hair that is how prevalent it is in our discussions. Also, I guess, my seven could be that I write books? Nah, hair.

So tell me: What's YOUR seven? Leave it in the comments!

XOXO,

R

  1. My seven is... Hmm, I've never thought about it. Oh, I know! My seven is, unfortunately, my clumsiness. Either that or the fact that I talk extremely loud and fast!

  2. You have the BEST hair.
I think maybe my seven is cheese. Or being tiny. Or Carly Simon songs.

  3. Oh goodness... umm... I don't know?
I was going to say it'd be insane Doctor Who obsession... actually... you know, it probably is. Every year I get Doctor Who presents from the office secret santa, and the Doctor Who DVDs from my husband, but... I think it's probably my surgical attachment to my phone :S

Neither is particularly flattering, I don't think.
Otherwise it's probably an entirely innapropriate sense of humour and being too loud in public >__<

  4. This is tough! After thinking it over, I think my seven might be "tangents," as in, I basically can't tell a story without going off on one. Is this useful or not for a writer? I don't know. In any case, I do it.

Although, when I was in high school, I had the same seven as Rose: I didn't drive!
